Getting Around Casablanca: Tram, Busway, Taxis and Ride-Hailing

Casablanca is a big city, but getting around is easy and cheap once you know the codes. Here are the essentials.

The tram and busway

The Casa Tram network has several tram and busway lines linking downtown, Casa Voyageurs station, the Ain Diab Corniche, Sidi Moumen and Ain Sebaa.

  • Ticket: a few dirhams per ride (around 8 dirhams), sold at station machines
  • Rechargeable card: handy if you stay several days
  • Hours: from early morning to the evening, with frequent service

Red petit taxis

These are the city taxis. They carry up to three passengers and may be shared with other customers going the same way.

  • Ask for the meter ("le compteur") right away.
  • A ride in town often costs 10 to 30 dirhams during the day.
  • A night surcharge applies.

White grand taxis

They cover longer trips (airport, nearby towns) at fixed prices. Agree on the fare before getting in.

Ride-hailing apps

Several driver-booking apps operate in Casablanca. They spare you the haggling and show the price upfront. Check which ones are available during your stay.

On foot

Downtown, Maarif and Gauthier are very walkable. For the Corniche, take the tram or a taxi.

Our tips

  1. Always carry small change: drivers rarely have any.
  2. Avoid rush hours (8–9:30 am and 5–7:30 pm).
  3. Save your apartment's address in Arabic and French to show the driver: we send it with your arrival instructions.

Our apartments in Maarif are close to tram lines and main roads.
