The Best Beaches Around Casablanca

Casablanca faces the Atlantic, and there are lovely beaches a few minutes or an hour's drive away. Here is our selection.

In the city: Ain Diab

The Ain Diab Corniche is the locals' beach. Lively in summer, with beach clubs, restaurants and a seaside promenade. The ocean can be rough: swim in supervised areas.

To the south: Dar Bouazza and Tamaris

About 20 to 30 km south, Dar Bouazza and Tamaris have long, quieter sandy beaches. The area is popular with surfers and families, and there is also a water park, perfect with children.

To the north: Mohammedia and Bouznika

  • Mohammedia (about 25 km): a family seaside town with a long beach and promenade.
  • Bouznika (about 40 km): a sheltered bay with often calmer water, very popular in summer.

For a day trip: Oualidia and El Jadida

  • El Jadida (about 1 h 30): a town beach and a Portuguese fortified city listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site.
  • Oualidia (about 2 h 30 to 3 h): a protected lagoon famous for its oysters, perfect for swimming in calm water.

Our tips

  1. Leave early on summer weekends: roads to the beaches get busy.
  2. Bring sunscreen and an umbrella: the Atlantic wind hides how strong the sun is.
  3. Respect the swimming flags: currents can be strong.
